Improv Level 1: Fundamentals of Improv

This class is great for beginners. Make new friends and laugh together every week!

Learn to abandon your fear and follow the fun! In this class, you will explore the fundamentals of improv comedy while playing in a safe and positive class environment with fellow students. This class will help you build confidence and become more collaborative while sharpening your creativity. 

Please note there is no graduation showcase for Level 1.

Improv Level 2: Intro to Long Form

Learn the same style of improv that launched the careers of some of your favorite comedic actors like Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Key & Peele, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, and many more.

Prerequisite: Improv Level 1 or above from any improv theater or previous acting experience

Learn the basics of long form structure and apply the fundamentals learned in Level 1 to a long form improv set. Discover how to explore an audience suggestion, create strong and unique characters, initiate scenes, and find enjoyment and fun in truth. 

This class ends with a student performance.

Improv Level 3: Intermediate Long Form  

Learn to develop the comedy of a long form set.

Prerequisite: Improv Level 2
Cost: $235 

 

Delve deeper into long form improv and explore strong relationship-based scene work. In this class, you will learn how to recapture what was fun in the beginning of the show with second and third beats. Topics covered include openings, scenic and show beats, scene work, and connections. 

This class ends with a student performance.

Improv Level 4: The Harold

Learn the world-renowned long form improv format, the Harold.

This class focuses on the Harold, the popular long form structure developed by Del Close in 1967. You'll discover why this format is so successful - it’s easy to learn, fun to perform, and rewarding for improvisers and audiences alike.

Students will perform a Harold in their class graduation show.

Improv Level 5: The Movie

Create a fully improvised movie live on stage.

Prerequisite: Improv Level 4 The Harold
Cost: $235

Learn how to improvise a movie in this performance based long form specialty class. Discover how to establish characters and settings otherwise impossible to present on stage by drawing on film techniques and scene painting. The eight-week session is made up of four classes (Tuesday’s 8/22, 8/29, 9/5, and 9/12) and four performances (Tuesday’s 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, and 10/17).
