Level 1: Fundamentals of Sketch Comedy Writing
Low pressure and lots of fun! Learn sketch formatting and story structure while utilizing the improv concept of “yes and”.

Brainstorm ideas, write dialogue & jokes, work with story, write for the stage, and more. Learn to write comedy just for fun or to ready yourself for your blossoming comedy writing career. Students are introduced to methods of collaborative writing and presenting material in a writer’s room. Class concludes with a staged reading of material written in class.
Level 2: Intermediate Sketch Comedy Writing
Writers delve into more advanced techniques, exploring both the two-person relationship sketch and ensemble sketches.
Session E Class Time: [Wednesdays 7:00p-9:30p] (11/8-1/10, no class 11/22 & 12/26)
Prerequisite: Level 1 Fundamentals of Sketch Writing
Practice pitching and writing sketch premises; explore point of view and discover how satire differs from parody; gain tools to revise and sharpen your sketch writing.
Writers will be given in depth critical feedback of their material and should expect to finish the class with a portfolio of original scripts. Class concludes with a staged reading of the material written in class.
Level 3: Advanced Sketch Comedy Writing
Take part in the writing, producing, and casting of an original sketch show!
Session E Class Time: [Mondays 7:00-10:00p] (11/6-1/8, no class 12/25 & 1/1)
Prerequisite: Level 2 Intermediate Sketch Writing
Learn the building blocks of a sketch revue – Explore sketch structures that “break the rules”, including blackouts and clothesline scenes. Expand your ability to collaborate with other writers as you learn the structure of a sketch revue.
Class concludes with a two-night run of an original sketch revue.
