Now Accepting Submissions For FALL/WINTER 2018 Livewire Sketch Teams!

Highwire Comedy Co. is now accepting applications for the 2018 Fall/Winter Season of Livewire Sketch Teams! The season will begin November 2018 and run through March 2019. Teams will work with a director to create brand new shows that will be performed once a month on Saturday nights at 9pm.

PLEASE NOTE: All applications and reels must be received by 5:00pm, Sunday September 30!

Teams will be announced on Friday October 5.

Please see below for all the application instructions and expectations. Read through them very carefully before submitting.

Show Expectations

  • All shows will be on regularly scheduled Saturday nights at 9pm. Two teams will perform in each show.

  • Teams will create one new 20-25 minute sketch show each month (roughly every three to four weeks).

  • All Livewire material must be new, original sketches specifically written for your Highwire Comedy Co. sketch team. In addition, the sketches must not have been performed elsewhere previously.

  • Each show will contain the strongest material as selected by the team’s director. Sometimes that means that a writer might not have a sketch in a show or a performer might not be featured in a show.

  • All sketches are to be written by the writers on the team and performed by the performers on the team. Outside talent (writers, performers, etc) may only be used at the director’s discretion if absolutely necessary.

Team Expectations

  • Sketch requires a large time commitment and team members are expected to attend all meetings and shows required by the director.

    • Please make sure you can fully commit before applying.

    • Please avoid scheduling conflicts (work, other rehearsals, other shows, etc) during your techs, shows, rehearsals, or meetings.

  • Sketch teams meet weekly

    • The team members are responsible for securing a meeting location

  • Sketch team members must be available from 12:00pm-3:00pm or 4:00pm-7:00pm for a mandatory 90-minute tech rehearsal the day of the show at the theater.

    • The dates and times will be coordinated no less than one month prior.

  • Sketch team members must be fully prepared at meetings and rehearsals.

    • Writers should have sketches and rewrites ready.

    • Performers should be familiar with sketches for table reads and off book for last rehearsal and tech.

  • Sketch teams may only rehearse with the director assigned to the team or one approved by Highwire Comedy Co.

    • Each sketch team is responsible for paying their director a flat rate of $100/week.

    • Team dues collection is left to the discretion of the director and team.

  • Sketch team members are expected to help promote their shows online and at the theater.
